I haven’t read at all today

Standard

It’s crazy, I know, but I haven’t.

Yesterday, Late afternoon I think, I started sneezing. I don’t know why, I was fine all day and then it just hits me. Plus, I couldn’t remember when I took an allergy tablet on Sunday, so I didn’t take one until 9:30 last night, and this morning my head felt tired and everything, and it still does feel like and I think I’ve lost all my energy or something, and that I want to sleep. I’m tired.

I still have about 16 or comics to read to before the end of the month and I can order #10’s and everything else

Green Arrow

Standard

So I’m currently reading Green Arrow #8 (I’m not super behind I just am not reading them in the order they come out in because I get them all at once) and I’ll be honest.

I’m thinking about actually not picking that title anymore.

out of the 22 (but now with the second wave more like 28 since I’m getting the first issues of each of them to see how they are) of the 52 titles that I am currently picking up, this is  the first time I’ve even considered it.

Why? The new creative team. No offence to any of them, but I was actually liking it before issue 7. I like the Oliver Queen Character before the new creative team came in and now, I’m just not sure about him anymore. I guess you could say the story is alright, but what I’m not a huge fan of is the art. Sure, sometimes the fight scenes look ok I guess, but when, like say #7, Oliver is talking to Jax and Naomi, and how Jax and Naomi looked, I was not a soon of it at all. So my question is, will the art be getting better, or more importantly, why should I keep this title? (I do have number 9 of it)
I like the new creative team of Superman better if I had to pick.

Edit – I just got to the part in #8 that shows Jax and Naomi, and they look a lot better than what they did in number 7 and I think I might just have to pick up number 10 as well just to see how things are coming along

Comics!

I’ve been blogging a lot about DC’s The New 52, but I haven’t even told you all of them that I’m getting! So here’s the list

  2. All-Star Western
  3. Aquaman
  4. Batman
  5. Captain Atom
  6. Detective Comics
  7. Flash
  8. Green Arrow
  9. Green Lantern
  10. Green Lantern Corps
  11. Green Lantern New Guardians

Now, the other titles that I pick up that are not DC

  1. Ultimate Spider-man (the new series)
  2. Flash Gordon Zeitgeist
  3. Super Dinosaur
  4. Mega-Man

Annnd, I think that’s pretty much it. So basically I just told you what titles I’m picking up.

So what titles are you picking up every month? What titles of The New 52 are you reading? how excited are you for the second wave that’s coming in May? (Dial H!)

Books = Imagination

Standard

We all know that the title is just plan and simple and easy to get, books are imaginative. They take you to places that you might not get to go to, or in some cases, places and times and worlds that don’t even exist (or had exist).

You start reading whatever book that it is your reading and suddenly your immersed in a world full of pirates, or up in space trying to save the galaxy from destruction, etc. There’s just so many places where could be when you read a book. If you get into it, like really get into the book that you’re reading, you feel like your part of that book, in the same world as the characters of the book, right alongside with them. One of my favourite books are The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. I mean, one moment your in this beautiful old house full of history, and next moment, you see this wardrobe, in an empty room, but you step into it, and getting past all of the winter coats and that you find yourself in this whole other world with talking animals, and Lions, and a legend that you’re part of that you don’t even realize. and that’s only one book! (or even if your in stores with your brother and sister, and seeing a wardrobe and wanting to go to Narnia.)

There’s adventure in any book that you read, and I love to read. You get sucked into reading a good book, and next thing you know a few hours have gone by. I don’t know if everyone else has done it, but even giving different voices in your mind to all of the characters in the book so they don’t sound the same, and it just gives a book a whole other level. It just makes a ooh, I find, that much more enjoyable.

Even comics books (if you’ve been following along with this blog, hopefully you have) fall into this category. Whatever it is, I use different voices for the different characters and it makes things that much better, more enjoyable.

It doesn’t matter whatever you read, have some fun and who knows what  you’ll find.

Back To The Books

Standard

No, I’m no talking about going back to school with this. Another title I could have used for this could have been ‘Back to The Real Books’

Because as you know (if you’ve been reading my limited number of posts on here) that I’ve been reading a lot of comic books lately, and I’m not saying that comics aren’t real books, I’m talking about book books, you know, the kind without pictures?

Since I’ve been caught up with DC Comic’s New 52, that’s what I’ve been reading. Right now, I’m all caught  up basically. So what does that mean? Well let’s just say that I have a good number of books that I have, that have not been read yet. I know their only around 25 dollars or so, but good books aren’t that cheap. I mean sure, you can find great books in bargain bins and sale sections, but then you look at the other books on the shelves, take it off the shelf to read to the description on the back, and you think it’s such an amazing book that you want to read it, and then you look down to see how much it is is, and back on the shelf it goes. There are so many books that I want to get. I’m always looking in the clearance/sale sections first, and then go towards the shelves.

So many good books, but the price. I mean if it’s really good then I mean 25 dollars doesn’t seem like a lot. I just want to get a good amount for my money, know what I mean? (Hopefully you do)

I don’t really like to buy things online (I don’t have a credit card so I’ve been using those visa gift cards, neat little things they are) but for books I’ve been using this site called http://bookcloseouts.com which I think it’s amazing. They don’t have a super huge selection like amazon, but you can find some amazing finds, and I think the prices are great.

Yesterday, I started reading Immanuel’s Veins by Ted Dekker. I’m not on chapter 3 yet but I am really liking this since it’s just setting everything up and I can’t wait to see what will happen. Plus, it somehow connects with The Circle Series, which is crazy because he has so many books that connect with it, sometimes hard to figure things out. I’m not going to even start with that, think it deserves its on post.

To be honest, at first I was never really a fun of suspense books and that, and I believe my first book diving into books like that was Ted Dekker’s Thr3e which was a great read. Then I was also reading Frank Peretti as well. I’ve read one book by Randy Alcorn,, not in the same category, but still an amazing book.

I really like reading C.S. Lewis. The Chronicles of Narnia is one of my favourite series, with the Circle Series in the same group. I happened to have gotten a copy of The Screwtape Letters for free when I was away at college and the library at the school had a table with free books. it was Lewis. It was free so I took it. So amazing. More about books later, I honestly do want to get of here and continue reading.

You can breathe now, it’s only a comic book

Standard

If you’re like me, your reading DC Comics New 52. I’m purchasing 21 out of the 52 titles (I’ll explain all of that another time.

I don’t have a comic shop anywhere close to where I am (I think the closest one is maybe 3 2-3 hours away?) Anyways, I just kinda finished getting caught up, and started reading #5’s today. Ever Since it came out back in January my brother kept telling me, you need to read Batman #5, and I’m like ok, I’ll read it.

I just finished the book like maybe 10 minutes ago. and I think I finally calmed my nerves down. Try and not give much away since if someone’s reading this, but they haven’t read #5, don’t want to spoil it for them. It was crazy, it was such an amazing book. The art was amazing, writing was amazing. The whole thing was just simply beautiful, and very intense.

Everyone that’s into Batman should read this, but maybe the first 4 books that come before it would help to. I mean, I’m liking what I’m reading – Flash, Green Lantern, etc, but then when it comes to Batman, it’s been amazing, but honestly, I’m not even sure if I can describe #5 (though  I think I might already have) twists and turns, and I was like wha.. and well I’ll just tell you my dropped reading it.

When was the last time I made a post on here?
