2012 – The Year Of The Ska

Standard

or The Year Of The Horn, either works.
But with either one that you choose, it only means one thing – you better have your dancing’ shoes on.

If you haven’t heard, or found out after (like me) you know that the O.C. Supertones are back!

Few months ago, it was Five Iron Frenzy announcing a comeback with a new record and a crazy amount they raised for their Kickstarter. On their Facebook page, the Supertones announced something big was going to happen on March 9th, and the first that came to my was a new album. Sure enough, I was right, but when I actually saw those words, I think I exploded with happiness all over again. If you haven’t already yet downloaded their new FREE song from Noisetrade, you need to do that pronto. It is such a fun and catchy song. One Kickstarter that I definitely think that I will back.

I never did see these guys live, and this is like a second chance, maybe it would be a better chance if they came to Canada, but one can hope right?

Here’s the link for their Kickstarter – http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theocsupertones/oc-supertones-new-album
(the link to the new song is at the bottom and right now 40 days left, their at just over $3800)

Do They Know It’s Christmas?

Standard

I can’t believe I haven’t made a post on here in a while. I can’t believe I haven’t written anything about Christmas yet!

So here it is!

Last night I watched the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, which is my favourite Christmas special. I’ve watched it I think every year since I was a kid (only missing a few years) it’s one thing that I get excited for this time of year, because I don’t want to miss it (Last year I watched it online because I missed it on tv)

Another note: I like Christmas music. I was just watching the George Stroumboulopoulos Christmas special tonight, and it was amazing.  a certain Mr. Michael Bublé knows how to sing the Christmas songs.

Speaking of Christmas music (Like the title suggests if you know what song it’s referencing) That’s one of my favourite non traditional Christmas songs. My favourite traditional song that I have liked ever since I was a kid is Little Drummer Boy – amazing song with a very amazing story to it.

So anyways, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! :D

Free Christmas Music? Michael Bublé singing Jingle Bells?

Standard

THought everyone could use a liyyle holiday cheer even though it isn’t Dencember yet, but you could use this anytime of the year right? THought so

Well anyways, I just happened to find this little amazing song by an amazing artist. I don’t have the whole album yet, but I’m hoping to get it.

Hey look! another one of these blog post site thingies and NaNaWriMo Day #8

Standard

Hey, Look! another post. Oh wait! It’s a whole new blog! Can you believe it?

Because I can! (Well I better believe it because I made it :P)

Now you’re probably thinking, why should I bother looking at another one of these blog things?

And to answer that, I have no idea. You can read it, you can not read it, it’s not up to me to decide of you read it or not because I can’t make you read it. This is me just rambling on and on, and on, and on, and on, and you get the point :P

I’ve been actually debating about doing this for the last little while, share my voice with the rest of the world. (would you  really want to read it since you can’t hear my voice on hear?)

Well this is just a very super cool introduction for myself.

  • I’m John
  • I’m Canadian
  • I’m Christian
  • So yes, I automatically like Tim Hortons
  • No, I don’t drink coffee *le gasp*
  • But I eat poutine
  • I like art
  • I’m currently listening to Mat Kearney’s City of Black and White album while I’m typing this
  • I’m a picture taker (Canon rebel T2i)
  • I like music a lot (Ido really like mat Kearney and the above album is seriously so amazing)
  • I’m so into movies
  • I’m a tea person
  • I also like hot chocolate
  • I’m getting back into comic books (thanks to a reboot, but that will probably be saved for another blog post)
  • Oh, and I’m 26 if I hadn’t mentioned it before :P
  • I like going through thrift stores (one reason for starting this, so you know there will be a post about this
  • There will be more, but you get the basic picture

So there, you get a basic idea of who(that would be me) will be writing these blog posts that you will be reading and hopefully enjoying, or you know I could be putting these online for the world to see and if anyone doesn’t see them, well, that’s not my problem.

So, Let’s talk about the other portion of this title – NaNoWriMo!

If you don’t know what it is, then you should definitely check out http://www.nanowrimo.org

In a nutshell, it’s basically to see if you can write a 50,000 word noel in a month. Crazy? I know!, that’s why I’m doing it again this year :D (I totally failed last year, so not happening again). It’s day number 8 of NaNoWriMo and I’m currently at 12,874 words. Yes It’s hectic and everything, but I kinda like that about this (if you want to check out my profile thing on there my screen name is CanadianJohn, so not original :P)

and to fellow NaNoWriMoers, good luck!
