A New Companion?

Standard

I knew that they were looking for a new Doctor, but just reading an article now mentions that Pearl Mackie, who is playing Bill, will be leaving at the Christmas Special. Trying to make everything new for the new writer. Here’s the link to the article, it mentions the companion near the end of it – http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/rumour-13th-doctor-a-dashing-male-actor-in-his-30s-83719.htm

Anyways, Here is my vote for who should be the companion – Osgood. I’ve been rewatching series 9 as I just purchased it on Blu-ray. Anyways, at the end of the Zygon invasion 2 parter, The Doctor asks Osgood if she wants to come along, to travel through time and space. You can tell that she’s very excited but the offer is declined, saying she needs to stay to protect the boxes, protect the planet,

There’s two Osgood’s though, the one that was Clara changed into Osgood the first Zygon Osgood was killed. So why not have the real Osgood travel through time and space with The Doctor and the Zygon Osgood stay on Earth to protect the boxes. Problem solved.

The Next Doctor

Standard

Since it’s been announced that Peter Capaldi isn’t going to be returning for a 4th series, the internet’s been running around with who should be the next Doctor. So many different names have been floating around. The last little while though, the idea of a female Doctor has been around, and hey they did it with the master. Certain Former Doctors have backed a different female, and I don’t want to be rude, I just don’t think any of the names would make a good Doctor.

Here’s my choice for a female Doctor – Catherine Tate reprising her role as Donna Noble.

If I remember right, if she thinks about The Doctor and everything she explodes. But WHAT IF, in the 12th Doctor’s dying days, the Tardis reaches out to her and she comes, she becomes the 13th Doctor, she would have both sets of memories and it would mske for anabsolutely crazy storyline, kinda like the Prisoner 0 thing from Matt Smith’s run, but something that would last over numerous seasons.

It would make for an amazing story.

Dear CBC, I’m ASHAMED of you

Standard

And I’m not probably not the only one to think about this.

There are 35.16 million people in Canada

Not exactly sure how they get .16 but anyways, you get the point.
Now I’m a big fan of CBC as I’m sure many Canadians are because well, what can get more Canadian than CBC?
When it comes to the Paralympics though, I am absolutely ashamed of CBC. Even when CTV did the Olympics for a couple of years, I was ashamed of them as well. Now I know it’s not a Canadian  thing to be saying anything like this, and I’m sorry for saying it.
It’s true though.
I almost feel  like I want to throw around the word idiot as well, but that might be going a little too far.

Why am I ashamed of CBC?

Every year, whether on CBC, CTV, or some other Canadian channel, the Paralympics seemed like they get pushed to the back burner, the credits after a movie where everyone leaves. (Except a film by Marvel, we all know everyone stays in their seats for that.)
When the Olympics are on, everyone from all over the world are glued to their television sets because honestly, it’s the only thing on.
Everyone is cheering for their athletes, watching the events unfold on live tv since the events are actually happening then.

The Olympics are done and over with every two years, (counting both summer and winter) two weeks in between and then the Paralympics happen.

That’s when everything changes.

No longer is everyone glued to their television sets to watch because the Paralympic games are barely ever shown on television, except for maybe a two hour daily highlight shown late at night when people need to sleep for work or school. There was one year that CITY was showing CBC’s broadcast because CBC wasn’t really showing anything at all.
I’m currently  laying on the couch underneath my huge TARDIS blanket, typing this on my laptop while I watch the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremonies on CBC.
Want to know something? This isn’t even being shown live. You know during the Olympics how they put the word live underneath the CBC logo?  Yeah, there’s nothing there. I’m also on twitter and see that CBC retweeted a photo of the opening ceremonies from over an hour before. What is going on CBC? Are you people slow or something?
I even checked tomorrow on the tv guide. They aren’t even showing the daily highlights until midnight, and I just see on Saturday and Sundays, three shows a day. Does that mean they’re all going to be the same thing? Or is CBC going to do the smart thing and have them all be different?
What about everything else you ask? Internet streaming.
I don’t know who or why they decided to do everything internet streaming, but it’s a very stupid decision. Sure, they can do that, CBC is in Toronto, where they have super fast internet and everywhere is great wifi. Not everyone lives in Toronto,  there are other places in Canada too, and not everyone has super fast internet. Not everyone who actually has the internet at their house can afford super fast internet.
So when they try to stream everything, what happens? Well for starters, the quality sucks, it’s like standard tv quality and maybe worse than that. Then there’s “If you put it up to full screen everything looks really bad” deal. We’re stuck watching it on a small screen on your monitor as well. Last Paralympics I did that, and trying to put it full screen was horrible. There’s also a slight matter of fact about this little thing called lag, which absolutely sucks.
You’re watching let’s say basketball for example. The game’s going, the quality is ok without it being full screen on the CBC Olympics site. The game’s going good, and then all of a sudden, it lags, and the screen freezes. So every minute or two you’re refreshing the page just so you can watch the wheelchair basketball game, and you miss some amazing plays.
That was me by the way, so frustrated at it.

And then, think about the seniors, or anyone else that doesn’t have internet access that want’s to cheer on their athletes. Everyone has CBC because it’s Canada, but you can’t  stay up super late,. How is anyone other than people with super fast internet able to watch anything at all live?

And there’s Paratriathalon and Paracanoeing this year. Those sound absolutely exciting, but I don’t they’ll get shown. Even with the Olympics, only the well known sports get shown which is frustrating, almost sounds a little biased too?

I remember reading on the CBC sports page a few years ago with people complaining about the same thing I’m complaining right now.

The Paralympics coverage sucks big time.

They have all of their announcers and everything used up and they don’t bother to send anyone so they can get back to their regularly scheduled lives.

Scott Russell just mentioned how we’ll hear words throughout the ceremony, yet how can we hear anything since nothing get’s shown and with live streaming, or a least when I watched it, there were no announcers?

Honestly CBC, you need to be fair, because these parathletes work as hard or harder than the able body athletes yet the television companies don’t treat them the same.

Doesn’t Canadian Tire say “We All Play For Canada?”

Maybe we can send a message by everyone not watching CBC for a whole week?
Watching the commercial asking if we can keep up with Canada’s Paralympic athletes with the workout videos, I’m not so sure if CBC can keep up

We want to cheer on our athletes at the Paralympics just like the athletes at the Olympics CBC.

Any Hackintosh help out there would be appreciated?

My 2009 iMac has been running slow is fine for basic things, but for trying to render video it takes forever. (\maybe about an hour and a half for 3 minutes.)
Anyways, long story short, I bought a used ASUS ROG laptop from Newegg, because I couldn’t justify spending the extra money for a MacBook pro, let alone a refurbished one. The other day I finished the El Capitan installer download and have it on the usb drive.

I’ve been following the installation instructions, and I get to the disk utility part, and when I go to erase the partition that I want El Capitan on, it says it’s done/error, the partition is formatted for mac but somehow becomes full al of a sudden. I tried the same thing with another partition and it basically did the same thing, but I as able to get it back so Windows was able to recognize it.
I still have the one partition that’s basically full that’s Mac Formatted. Since it’s formatted for mac it won’t show up in windows
Is there a terminal command I can use to fix this problem?

I’m working on a new book project and I thought I could make it a little more interactive!

The other day it was amazing outside! The sun was out, I was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and no winter coat getting my hair cut, pulling a hoodie off the clothesline and putting it on and smelling it because it just smelled so good.

Anyways, I thought to myself how there’s a lot of smells out there that people really like. I thought I would make a book, and then get others to submit a favourite smell that they like.

So that’s what I’m doing. You can submit your favourite smell, and why you like it. Maybe it invokes recalling a childjood memory, or something completely random.

I think this will be fun.

I think I might have it figured out (Hopefully!)
A few days ago I posted that I was looking for a more compact camera for going on big trips since I wasn’t really planning on taking my bulky Canon Rebel T2i with me.
I had previously mentioned that I was thinking about getting an ilc camera, preferably the Sony Alpha a5000. I wouldn’t be getting any more lenses for it, and it only going to 50mm, I realized that I wanted something a little better so I wouldn’t miss a great photo.
I started looking at advanced point and shoot cameras, and in all. I’m not sure what I think about Canon’s more advanced P&S types.
After spending a good number of hours researching this, I think I have an answer – Sony Cyber-Shot HX90V (Links to review)

Now, all of the photographers out there are probably saying, “Why not go for the RX100?”
First off, the price. The RX models are more expensive. Plus, with an optical zoom of 3.6x, it’s basically up to 100mm. I don’t want to keep regretting if was ever to get one of them, that just not being able to get a better because because I wish it zoomed in more.

I don’t really care much for the flip up “selfie screen” of the HX90V though I guess it would be great for group pictures. If anyone has this model, do you know if it has a delay shutter, like setting it for 10 seconds so you can group everyone together before the camera takes the picture? That would be neat.

Also, I’m not sure how much nighttime pictures I’ll be taking with this, but every review I’ve read online says  that it’s not the greatest for low light sensitivity, high iso photos? But what do you think about it?

Another thing I want to know is how does it do with focusing on your subject while blurring out the background? Does it do well with motion, like someone playing soccer and taking a clear picture of them moving so fast?
I think I’ve looked at all of the options(Or I should say all of the other cameras), and I’m really liking what I’m reading about this.
Unless anyone else out there has some better ideas for about the same price range, under $500

I’d love to hear your comments and such. I’m not too big of a point and zoom person.

For the price of an ilc or this, I might be nothing with this just incase carrying lens wouldn’t be as light, or just the weight factor of each camera.

Camera Question for all of you photographers out there.

Topic – compact ilc cameras

In February, our church is planning on going on a missions trip to Costa Rica to help missionaries that we are sponsoring.
Anyways, to the matter at hand.
I really wasn’t on planning to take my Canon Rebel T2i with me because it is big and bulky and yeah, just carrying that around with everything that we’d be doing might no be a good idea.

So I’ve been thinking about ilc cameras. Basically it’s like a dslr but in a compact camera body. I’m not too familiar with these so I’ve been doing my research, and that’s another reason why I am asking all of you for your opinion/advice/help.
I’m not looking to spend a huge fortunate, but I would like some good quality pictures (not saying the a kodak easy share isn’t bad, but I might want to put this into focus.)
I’m not sure if anyone else has anything better they’ve found, but after doing research one that I like in particular s the Sony a5000. It seems compact, and even with the kit lens when turned off it compacts to 30mm, which is crazy! Stereo sound too!

The one thing that I’ve read aboutt that I like is that you can download apps through the camera like a time-lapse add-on and such, but my question is do they get downloaded to the sd card that you have in the camera or does it go into the internal memory of the camera?

The Sony a6000 looks great, but it’s the price tag. I’ve found the a5000 for about 398 which isn’t too bad, though I”m maybe seeing if I can find it cheaper (Buying just the body and a separate lens on eBay looks like it might be around the same price.)

Any advice/anything else would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t really think I want to go just point and shoot since I want also quality, but also video quality as well.

Edit – Even though I won’t be using this camera a lot, would you suggest I go with an ilc or Point and Shoot?
