Home for Christmas: Stories for Young and Old by Multiple Authors Book Review

They are some of the warmest childhood memories, those unhurried evenings around the fireplace, Christmas tree, or dinner table, when there was time for a story… Now, with this collection, you can keep the story-telling tradition alive in your family, and pass it on to your children or grandchildren.

Home for Christmas includes twenty time-honored favorites including several by world-famous children’s authors – Selma Lagerlöf, Henry van Dyke, Ruth Sawyer, B. J. Chute, Elizabeth Goudge, Pearl S. Buck, Nikolai S. Lesskov, Madeleine L Engle, Ernst Wiechert, and Rebecca Caudill; others are little-known European tales not available in English anywhere else. Selected for their literary quality and their spiritual integrity, they will resonate with readers of all ages, year after year. With twenty woodcuts by David G. Klein. (Taken from Plough.com)

Christmas is one of my favourite times, just everything about the season brings up memories from years gone by, and also looking forward to what’s ahead. Cups of hot chocolate after coming in from a cold, snowy day. It’s just absolutely great, and everyone coming together.

It’s one of the reasons that I wanted to read a book like this, reading stories of times gone by when everything was simple and not so complicated like it can be now. These stories are just absolutely brilliant, stories about times that aren’t here anymore, and just the words used to craft them, amazing!

There’s nothing bad I can say about this book, though some stories I did enjoy more than others, but you might disagree with me and there is simply nothing wrong with that. The stories within the pages of this book will fill your heart with warmth as some of them from reading, haven’t been translated to english before this!

Compiled from different authors, this book is just an absolute joy to read and something I think will be cherished for many, many years to come.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Handlebar for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
